Hawks to Face Beavers in DAC Playoffs

After a weekend split with Black Hills State and South Dakota Mines, the DSU men solidified the fourth seed in the DAC playoffs and will face rival Minot State on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at home at 7:30 p.m.

The Blue Hawks (16-12, 9-5 DAC) got the weekend off to a great start when they defeated South Dakota Mines 79-62. Conference leading scorer Nate Lebsock poured in 16 points in the win while John Hanstad and Matt Lee chipped in 15 and 13 respectively. The Hawks hung tough against Black Hills State before falling 67-57 the next night. In that contest Nate Lebsock and Matt Lee both netted 12 points apiece for the Hawks. Tevin Hurd was also in double figures with 10 points. Luke Enos led all scorers with 19 points.

Dickinson State defeated Minot State in their two previous meeting this season. Their latest triumph over the Beavers came on the road in the form of an 86-65 win. The winner of Wednesday’s game will face the winner between top seeded Black Hills State and Mayville State on Saturday Feb. 27.

Lady Blue Hawks travel to Jamestown for DAC Playoffs

The women of Dickinson State (15-12, 7-7 DAC) will face Jamestown College on Wednesday Feb. 23, in the first round of the Dakota Athletic Conference playoffs. The Lady Blue Hawks were swept on the year by the Jimmies but battled to two close finishes on both occasions. The Hawks are on the heels of a weekend split against South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State.

A valiant effort on Saturday night fell just short as the DSU women fell to conference leading Black Hills State 61-55. Amber Adams led all scorers with her game-high 23 points on senior night.

Jamestown College will host Dickinson State on Wednesday evening at 5:30 CST. The winner of that contest will face the winner between Black Hills State and Dakota State University.
